"A Genuine Hick"

'Hickory' is one jaw-dropping boy! At 13 years old and 14.2 HH, this palomino AQHA gelding sure turns heads! But if his impressive looks don't immediately catch your attention, then his papers most likely will! With Doc Bar, Genuine Doc, and High Style Hickory all listed, he has an incredible foundation to his breeding, and it certainly shows in his mind, build, and movement!

Hickory has an extensive background that includes various cattle work, pleasure riding, arena work, light feedlot use, tons of trails, obstacles, etc. This boy has a SOLID mind and is exceptionally quiet. Just look at his video — it speaks for itself!

He is happy to ride out by himself or tag along with the group. He settles into new places great and truly takes everything in stride. Hickory is comfortable inside the arena or out on the trail/ranch. This boy loves having a job, but he’s more than happy to stand for pets and scratches all day long, too.

He neck reins, direct reins, works off your seat, and is even gaining some more body control. He’s currently a relatively straightforward ride and an assertive rider with kind hands would get along great with him.

Hickory is happy to drag sleds, get roped off of (haven’t roped live cattle myself, but it’s likely he would have in the feedlot), and tackle any obstacle that gets placed in front of him — even inflatable unicorn costumes.

Hickory has an exceptionally cute jog, lovely ground manners, and is a gentleman to handle and be around.

He would be a perfect horse for a confident/competent youth rider, a handy kid needing something solid for the ranch, a student in lessons, or a lady rider (however I’m 5’11 and he handles me well). Or, this boy will make an awesome all-around horse for someone who wants to do a little bit of everything -- from cowboy challenge to 4-H, lessons, trail, ranch work, gymkhanas, grand entry, or even English riding! But he certainly has the foundation to be taken in one specific direction — and the papers to boot!

He would make an awesome step-up horse for a confident rider looking to advance themselves, but he is definitely more than handy enough for an experienced rider to enjoy him and his knowledge.
