Galleo

2010 Bay QH Gelding

SOLD

*SOLD*

‘Galleo’ is a 9 year old QH gelding standing at 15.2HH. This boy is the perfect all-around ride who won’t hesitate at any job you place in front of him. He is extremely well broke, with all of his show buttons. He is a soft, light-handed ride who will respond to every seat movement, leg aid, and vocal cue. He will complete side passes, leg yields, turn on haunches/forehand, simple lead changes, sliding stops, etc. He collects into a gorgeous frame, nose on the vertical, in either a draped rein or with contact. He works extremely well off of his hind end and has a lovely western-pleasure jog, a rocking horse lope, and will happily move out when asked, making him suitable for English disciplines, as well.

His previous experience includes competitive mounted shooting, and he is extremely well desensitized - he will carry flags at all three gaits and has had ropes swung off and around him. He has also proven to be a steady and surefooted horse on the trail. He has been used extensively in the mountains, and I even used him when I was working as a wrangler. During that time, he was used to jingle, or round up, herds of thirty horses on the mountainside, lead trail rides at all gaits, pony horses, and travel solo on various trails. He crosses water and other natural obstacles without an issue, and has been used for light cattle work. He is also extremely comfortable in the arena, and would make a fantastic competition horse. I could see him excelling in western or English pleasure and equitation classes, western dressage (or classical with further training), grand entry/drill team, ranch work, or reining.

He will open gates, back up through L’s, side-pass over poles, etc.

This boy is extremely attentive to his rider. He is exceptionally responsive to body language on the ground, and rider’s motion in the saddle. He knows join-up in the round pen, and is familiar with other methods of natural horsemanship in his training.

However, due to him being a very soft and sensitive ride, I would recommend him for an intermediate-experienced rider, or possibly an amateur looking for a step up horse, so long as that they are comfortable working horses off their legs and confident in their cues.

This guy loads great, backs out of the trailer, stands for farrier, is shank ridden and spur trained, middle of the pecking order, rides English or western, is an easy keeper, not herd-bound, and can go barefoot or shod.
